The client has now experienced a further variation of this issue but on a different computer and email account they now have two missing emails from their sent folder. However, with this one the messages can be seen on the server and can be seen using webmail. So they are only missing from their computer.
Her machine reports an error of 4362 within Entourage on the Mac, intermittently. Again they are using IMAP. They advised that they perform the following :
"Normally I can retrieve my repairing my message list. But not today, and every time I try, I get the error message again." They are also experiencing other issues which apparently mean they need to rebuild their database on a regular basis.
Does this point towards a server problem or an email client issue bearing in mind that there are two different issues, different computers and different email clients?
The IT company they use to manage their computers and system has basically stated that the server is "not a real IMAP server" and is the cause of all their problems. As such my customer is losing faith in the server and demanding action. They are the only customer reporting these issues, though not many of our customers use IMAP it has to be said.
